The Want to Dance Festival is curated by Shinehouse Theatre Artistic Director Chung Po-Yuan, alongside  Keng Yi-wei, the advisor chief-dramaturg of National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts-Weiwuying, as the curatorial advisors; and global independent producer Zhang Xin-Yi as the international affairs advisor, respectively. The theme of the 2025 Want to Dance Festival is "Diversity," bringing together various issues such as culture, ethnicity, gender, and more, allowing diverse voices to be heard.

     This year, the Want to Dance Festival features an Open Call Program, where creative teams from both Taiwan and abroad have been selected. A total of 28 groups from Italy, Spain, Australia, Mexico, and Taiwan will participate, including performances by Gao Wei-En (Draggy Boo Boo), who explores the theme of drag queens; Duck Art Studio’s You Wang Heng and Lin Jing-Lan, bringing a collaboration between deaf and hearing people; and Satsangdance's work based on their mother tongue, using Taiwanese Hokkien as the foundation for choreography.

     The Exchange Program presents seven works by local choreographers selected by the judges in 2024, including Shi Min-Wen, Chen Zhu-Chen (Dawn Pottery Dance Studio), Liao Shi-Xun, Chen Bo-Jie and Chen Yu-Fen (Ars Association), Huang Shi-Hao, Wang Bo-Nian, and Ayano Yokoyama. These works, along with collaborations with Laos' FANG MAE KHONG Dance Festival and South Korea's Busan International Dance Market, will be recommended to this year’s international curators and matched with opportunities for future performances.

    This year's opening program invites Chara Kotsali from Greece to present her work "TO BE POSSESSED". By combining body and sound, it tells the story of a woman attempting to break free from the multiple roles imposed by societal frameworks.

     Additionally, this year's Want to Dance Festival, partnering with Wan Theater, presents "Wan Focus," featuring exciting performances from Lithuania, and Germany. Over three days, outstanding performers from Taiwan’s counties and cities, along with creative teams from around the world, will gather in the Wanhua district of Taipei, the earliest-developed area with the richest cultural and historical heritage. Using various indoor and outdoor venues, such as theaters, historic sites, parks, creative bases, climbing walls, markets, and cultural landscapes, more than 70 amazing performances will take place from April 11th to 13th!
